The Real Reason Why You Haven’t Done The Things You Want To Do

I first started thinking about starting my own blog about three years ago. But I didn’t think I was ready.

A little over a year ago, I finally sacked up and did it.

You know what changed in those two years? Absolutely nothing.

I still felt just as un-ready as I had two years earlier, but I finally realized that “not feeling ready” is just an excuse to put something off indefinitely. There’s never a “right” time to start something.

The perfect time to start something is before you feel ready.

You either want to do something, or you don’t. But you have to really want to do it.

If you just kind of want to do it, you’ll keep coming up with excuses to put it off. You’ll keep telling yourself that you’ll start tomorrow. You’ll keep telling yourself that you’re just not ready yet. Not today.

But I’m telling you now…

If you really, genuinely want do something, YOU ARE READY. TODAY.

No one knows exactly what they’re doing in the beginning. To be honest, I still don’t know what I’m doing with this blog half the time.

But guess what? Eventually I figure things out, one way or another.

Don’t Worry About Failing

It’s OKAY to fail. If you hadn’t tried in the first place, you would’ve failed anyway.

You can’t fall if you don’t climb. But there’s no joy in living your whole life on the ground.” – Tweet This

So make up your mind. What do you want to do? What is it that you wanted to do today, but put off for tomorrow?

Start going to the gym? Start a blog? Talk to that cute girl in your class?

Whatever it is, start today.

The hardest part is getting started, so for now, just focus on that.

Excellent observations about being ready or not. It’s totally true. I have been there several times in my life time and I have been the type of I get an idea in my mind. Few months later is still there but now ithe though has progressed to my heart. Oh, oh it’s getting scary. A few months later it persists, then I think it’s time to tackle it and do it. Every move has been scary. But at the end, Years later… I see every change has been a step forward in my life. Always growth. Every time has been a step ahead in life, never worse. See it in your own life. Every time you step forward even if in fear it has been to move forward in life. After you feel accomplished in the new position in life. Life itself will start planning the next challenge for you. Here goes the cycle of life again. Just keep on the game of life. Move forward.

    • Thanks for the comment Ity. You bring up a good point, the reason why we make excuses and the only thing that keeps us from moving forward is fear. It’s natural to feel fear, but the difference is whether or not you are able to overcome your fears.
